RP-TNC connectors are reverse polarity versions of the TNC connector which is a miniature threaded versions of the BNC connector with 50 ohm impedance. There are both TNC and RP-TNC type connectors. It is quite common for these to be confused. The TNC female has a receptacle in the center. However the RP-TNC female has a center receptacle thus causing those unfamiliar to be confused. We often use the terms plug for male and jack for female since plug and jack tend to lead to less confusion. RP-TNC connectors are utilized in a broad range of applications but are common in WiFi products.
