Outdoor Shielded FTP UV Resistant CAT5E Ethernet Cable - Premium Grade - By The Foot
AIR802® model CA5EF-FTP-PREM-FOOT is our premium grade high quality outdoor CAT5e shielded (FTP) Ethernet cable by the foot. This cable is gel filled to prevent water penetration and damage to equipment. It is UV protected and offers excellent electrical transmission performance with a 2 to 3 dB improvement in NEXT and Return Loss over our standard version and the TIA/EIA 568-B.2 standards. The jacket outer diameter is larger than the standard version and thus we offer a specific shielded connector, CN-8P8C-HP for use with this cable. This is also available in 1000 feet wooden reels.
Product Description – Model CA5EF-FTP-PREM-FOOT
AIR802® manufactures CA5EF-FTP-PREM-FOOT which is our premium version of our CAT5e shielded FTP, UV resistant outdoor Ethernet cable sold by the foot. The outer jacket is constructed with black polyethylene (PE), which is extremely durable and offers a very long product life (20 year life) with resistance against moisture, UV, grease, oils, and extreme temperatures. There are four pairs and each conductor’s insulation is also constructed of polyethylene. The cable is then flooded internally with grease which prevents any moisture buildup.
CA5EF-FTP cable meets ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA/EIA 568-B.2 standards in addition to RoHS compliance. The premium version has a larger outer diameter and as a result this cable has a 2 to 3 db improvement in head room for NEXT and Return Loss versus our standard version and the TIA/EIA 568-B.2 specifications. With the larger head room this cable is ideal for those needing superior outdoor electrical performance.
Using an indoor grade (PVC jacket and non-grease/jell filled) category 5E cable in outdoor environments will deteriorate rapidly. Installation of indoor Cat5e cable inside a conduit does not make it outdoor suitable either. Conduits fill full of water and the cable will deteriorate rapidly. Therefore choosing a high quality cable with PE jacket, PE conductor insulation and jell-filled (often referred to as icky pik) is extremely important. Some cables indicate "filled" but are of an inferior material. Now with AIR802® CA5EF-FTP or CA5EF-FTP-PREM versions of our shielded cable you can install an Ethernet cable outdoors without suffering network outages, keeping network reliability high and maintenance costs low. Our CA5EF is suitable for direct burial. Shielded cable is particularly desirable on towers and other applications where shielding is required.
CAT5e modular connectors all comply with the physical plug-in size dimensions defined by FCC Part 68 specifications. However, connectors do vary in size where the cable enters the rear of the connector. In order to fit the larger outer diameter of our premium version cable, we recommend our shielded connector, CN-8P8C-HP . Rubber boots are also optionally available. Alternatively, you may terminate (punch down) the cable as with any other twisted pair cable.
This cable is also available for purchase in 1000 feet wooden reels.
