AIR802® manufactures high precision and performance connectors. This includes this UHF or PL259 plug (male) 3 piece connector which is designed to work with RG58 and 195-series cables, such as AIR802® CA195, Times Microwave LMR195® and similiar size coaxial cable types. Connector selection is extremely important to insure proper operation and reliability. Poorly constructed connectors will cause higher VSWR and insertion loss resulting in electrical noise and intermittent issues. AIR802® manufactures very large quantities of connectors for our global customers allowing us to provide an attractive quality to price ratio.

In choosing connectors, it is important to match one to the type of cable being used, the impedance (50 versus 75 ohms), the frequency support, insertion loss, voltage rating and environmental specifications. If you are an amateur considering buying connectors to install, we recommend that you purchase our pre-manufactured antenna cable assemblies which have been professionally assembled and tested. Installation of connectors without experience and proper equipment will lead to improperly terminated connectors.

UHF plug (male) connectors are often referred to as PL259 plug connectors, which is an old Signal Corps nomenclature. The jack (female) is often referred to as a SO239 connector. This coaxial connector is a UHF or PL259 plug (male). The UHF connector is threaded and is from the World War II era. UHF connectors are used for frequencies from DC to a maximum of 300 MHz due to non-constant impedance across the length of the cable. Poor quality connectors will support substantially less than 300 MHz. These connectors are widely used in amateur ham radio, citizens band and marine VHF radio.
